In all my years of teaching, I’ve yet to find anyone who actually thinks the big end-of-course standardized tests are actually a good idea.

Man, smiting would probably reduce the possibility of cheating by a considerable amount.

The Virginia Standards of Learning (or SOLs), as the end of course tests are called, are a difficult time for the students. For some, their score is not quite high enough for a pass, but it is high enough they can do an expedited retake in a week or two and hopefully raise their score high enough for a pass.
#1327 – Notice
Seriously, I moved the notice of when the state testing stuff begins by a foot or so and changed to a different color marker, and the kids all freaked out.
Never mind the fact that I’ve mentioned when the tests are every single class period for the last month.
