As you can see, the comic isn’t quite done, and it’s late and I still have miles to drive tomorrow. So, here’s the rough draft – the blue “pencil” layer – and my basic inks. Still have to fill in the hair and do the shading and all that, add the real dialogue bubbles and text, but at least I don’t leave you hanging like last week. I’ll finish this when I get home in the evening and upload the final product.

Back on track! We’re driving back to Virginia starting today. I’m not thrilled to be in the car for the next two days.

Our stay at the farm in Missouri was peaceful, in large measure because there was virtually no cell reception. Occasionally, you’d find a spot with a precious bar of LTE coverage, and we’d receive a barrage of notifications and emails.

On Tuesday, the Wife and I drove 850 miles in 15 hours to visit her aunt and uncle on their farm in Missouri. It was a daunting voyage, to be sure, and for a time we felt we may have to live in the car.

The other night, while I was drawing, I got a FaceTime call. Thinking it was my brother, I accepted, only to be confronted with the grinning face of my four-year-old niece. She proceeded to spend he next ten minutes taking me on a tour of the house while talking about the play date she’d had with some friends the day before.
In short, my niece is more adorable than yours, and I’ll fight you if you say otherwise.
