It’s the last week of school! And I think I may die before Friday.

We’ve finished up our standardized tests, done our final projects, and the students have turned in their computers. Not much left to do other than pop in a history movie and ride out the last week.

I’m sorta invisible in the geometry class I team-teach.

Teaching often feels this way.

My return to work was mostly met with indifference from the students.

You do the best you can, but sometimes the students just do not want to engage with the material, no matter how interesting you try to make it.

There’s something about teenagers that makes most of them, like, allergic to doing something fun or appearing to enjoy learning. I’m not sure why, but it makes for frustrating lesson planning sometimes.

Student handwriting is only getting worse, I’m pretty sure.

There are times it makes me feel like I’m a terrible teacher. I see their grades, their lack of effort, and it just eats me up. Am I really not any good?
Then I see their grades in other classes and realize that, sometimes, it’s the student, not the teacher. They gotta meet you part way, at least.
