Sketch a Day, Day 169

I’m on a roll with the 90s music references lately. Here’s another one. I never did understand why the Goo Goo Dolls felt the need to record that cover of Supertramp’s “Give a Little Bit.” I mean, the only difference was Johnny Buttchin sang and got the verses out of order. They did nothing to make the song sound different (though I guess after they hit it big with “Name,” they basically copied the Supertramp sound anyway, so I guess it all makes sense).

Anyway, yeah, I thought way too much about this, obviously.

I’ll be the first to admit it: I’m a bit of a momma’s boy (okay, a lot), but I also feel that my mom has been over nearly backwards over the years to Provide me with the upbringing and care that made me a decent person. I wouldn’t be who I am without her (or my father, but that’s a different post). So, thank you, mom, for always being there. I love you.

We now return you to your regularly-scheduled jokes about baking Downton Abbey.

Allison started her move into a new place this weekend, and while I’ll enjoy having my music room back, I’ll miss having her around. I mean, all those baked goods. And the extra rent money. Man, the extra rent money was awesome.

Maurice Sendak, the writer/artist behind such classics as Where the Wild Things Are, died on Tuesday. he was a pretty cool guy, from what I can tell, and he had a pretty good handle on what children were actually like (as opposed to what we think they’re like when we look back at childhood, which is totally different), and he was a sharp and clever creative talent. He’ll be missed.
