Here in the United States, we’re celebrating Independence Day, which of course involves fireworks and trips to the burn ward if done properly. We spent the evening watching the parents of one of our students set off one of the most impressive fireworks displays we’d ever seen. In a residential neighborhood. It was nifty.
I also got some bottled water and a lantern that can be charged with a crank. Also, it charges cellphones, which is kinda awesome.
Much as I would love to, I will not be seeing the new Spider-Man movie tonight at midnight.
Because I am old, and I have work in the morning.
Summer school starts tomorrow. I am…less than thrilled, let’s say.
Though the power came back on late this evening at our place, we still decided to spend the evening at my sister-in-law’s place, where they hadn’t lost power. Even my in-laws came over to stay. Good times with the whole family!
So it looks like we might be out of power for the next week. Which wold suck. Currently, we’re holed up in the sister-in-law’s place, where they have air conditioning and such. It’s lovely.
We’re watching the Borgia miniseries today. It’s okay, if you’re a fan of Renaissance political-religious intrigue. And dudes getting turned upside down and being sawed in half.
The Renaissance was weird, y’all.
I can tell you why, actually: I need to buy new sandals.
Yeah, I’ve been sitting on the floor a lot this past week, playing back through the Assassin’s Creed series (I’m already on Revelations again today). But my knees can’t handle sitting cross-legged on the floor so much anymore. Getting old stinks.
