Sketch a Day, Day 176

We found a baby bird on one of our patio chairs yesterday afternoon. It was clearly very young: its eyes still hadn’t even opened. The poor thing had clearly fallen out of a nest in one of the gutters above. I was surprised it survived the fall, and my wife insisted we try to save it. We put it in a box with a heating pad and fed it wet cat food. It managed to survive the night, but died when we were taking it with us to school this morning. Poor Squeaky died young, but I think we finally formed a truce with the birds in the neighborhood.

So tonight was the last episode of House. I feel like I watched the last couple of seasons out of momentum more than anything else. I would watch the hell out of Bertie Wooster, MD, so if Fry and Laurie want to get to work on that, I’m right there with them.

I meant to get two comics done today, but I was laid up all afternoon with a pretty terrible headache and couldn’t really do anything but sleep. So yeah, just one comic. The wife and I recently started watching Being Human on Netflix (the original UK version), and it’s pretty darn good. Almost accidentally watched a few moments of the US version this evening, but I managed to stop it before any irreparable damage could be done to our psyches.

And here’s number 3 for the day! If I do two to,or row. I’ll be all caught up!

The birds do seem to be at war with my cars. They’ve been pooping on them mercilessly for the past week or so. I also do d a baby bird today, and found myself thinking, “I’ll let this prisoner live, and you can cease hostilities. Fair deal?” Apparently not, as my car was covered in even more crap the next time I went outside.

So instead of doing…well, anything last night, I fell asleep at 5:30 or so. Slept until about 7:00 this morning, which felt great, but meant I did not get a comic drawn. So now I’m three comics behind (I haven’t forgotten about the two I still owe from last weekend). I’ll try to get at least a couple up today.

I’m on a roll with the 90s music references lately. Here’s another one. I never did understand why the Goo Goo Dolls felt the need to record that cover of Supertramp’s “Give a Little Bit.” I mean, the only difference was Johnny Buttchin sang and got the verses out of order. They did nothing to make the song sound different (though I guess after they hit it big with “Name,” they basically copied the Supertramp sound anyway, so I guess it all makes sense).

Anyway, yeah, I thought way too much about this, obviously.
